High Heels NightThis document describes how High Heels Night is structured and how it operates. It is expected that this document will be superceded by a formal set of club/society rules or manifesto. High Heels Night is the brainchild of DJ Marcela. It is a group of professional, independent women who arrange and attend events and share interests and like to have fun. High Heels Night is organised as a non-profitmaking club or society. There are various formal officers within the club. Officers are not salaried, but reasonable expenses are met out of subscription fees. No one should be "out of pocket" simply because they have been assisting in the smooth operation of the club. It is envisaged that the majority of expenses will be phone and travel costs incurred while organising events. Members join by applying for membership to the Membership Secretary who has discretion over membership. Membership fees are paid to the Treasurer. Initial membership fees are £25.00 per annum for all members. High Heels Night meets at least once a month on the first Thursday of the month, but often between these times for one-off activities. The Events Secretary organises entertainment, but it is expected that ideas for entertainment and events will flow freely among members and the Events Secretary may in many cases be essentailly a facilitator and help members realise their own event ideas. Other, informal, officers may be appointed to help carry out the wishes of the club or bring specialist expertise from time to time as may be needed. A Chairperson will co-ordinate the officers and their activities. Officers may double up roles, except the Treasurer who is permitted to perform only the role of Treasurer. In the first year of operation officers are appointed by DJ Marcela who is the first Chairperson. Subsequently officers are elected annually. All current members are eligible to vote. The name High Heels Night is owned by the club and its use is regulated by the club officers. The nature or ownership of the club may only be varied following a simple majority vote of the members. If for example at some time in the future the club were to be placed on a more commercial footing, it would be expected that all existing members would be advantageously treated as founder members.
